Welcome to class 3B! We can be on the ground floor of the KS2 building at Eaton Park Academy. We are excited to start our learning journey in KS2. In year 3, we are determined, ambitious and positive about the year ahead.
What We Are Learning
The year 3 curriculum is a challenge but we are ready to face it together to achieve our goals. In maths we will be covering areas including number, measure, geometry and statistics. Within English, we will be starting by using a talk for write text by Pie Corbett called ‘Pirate Tom’. Then, we will be moving on to look at the Kapom tree before starting our texts all about the Stone Age during our Tribal Tales topic. During these English sessions we will be addressing grammar, spelling and writing skills from the national curriculum.
We have lots of exciting topics this year including ‘Gods & Mortals’ and ‘Scrumdiddlyumptious’. Our trips will further develop the children’s learning and experiences within these topics.
Helping Us at Home
Please encourage your child to read every day and discuss what they have read with you. Bug Club is also another great reading tool to access as a family at home. It would be helpful if you could practise multiplication facts for your x3, x4 and x8 times tables. Please also help them to practise their weekly spellings and maths each day ready for their tests

Welcome to class 3W! We have made an excellent start to our learning journey in KS2, and we are excited to achieve our very best! We are resilient, ambitious and most importantly we love to learn.
What We Are Learning:
In year three, we enjoy many different lessons. We like to face challenges together as well as working independently, and we believe that it is very important to learn from each other. We are excited to begin our English lessons by using a talk for write text called ‘Pirate Tom’ by Pie Corbett. After that, we will be moving on to The Great Kapok Tree. Our aim is to always produce wonderful writing by using these engaging texts. During our English sessions, we will be addressing grammar, spelling and writing skills from the national curriculum.
As well as working hard in our English sessions, we also put lots of effort into maths sessions. Different calculation methods, different concepts involving fractions and finding the perimeter are some of the aspects of the Y3 curriculum that we can’t wait to start to get to grips with!
We have lots of exciting topics this year beginning with ‘Gods & Mortals’. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day as ancient Greek soldiers on our topic launch day.
Helping Us at Home
In order to develop our fluency and confidence, we need to read at least three times a week; this can be a mixture of our home reading book and Bug Club. It is also very helpful for us to discuss the book we are reading. We need to practise our spellings and maths each day ready for our tests. We want to continue moving up the times tables rainbow, so we need to practise our 3, 4 and 8 times tables as often as possible.
