🚒 Year 5 have had such an exciting afternoon at Sandyford Fire Station for our 'Safe and Sound' workshops.
Throughout the day, we explored a range of important topics including:
🔥 Fire safety- we learned how to stay safe in the home and what to do in an emergency.
🚗 Road safety and the risks of alcohol and driving- a really valuable session which helped the children to understand the dangers and responsibilities on the roads.
💰 HSBC workshop- this involved a great discussion around how to keep money safe and make smart choices.
👮 Being a good citizen within society- a lovely workshop with the police about what it means to be respectful, responsible and kind members of our community.
The children were fantastic and engaged very well with all of the different activities- the staff were blown away by their excellent knowledge and questions. Well done to you all! ... See MoreSee Less

✨ Get ready for an incredible Aspirations Week adventure! 🚀
Monday will be the beginning of Aspirations Week at Eaton Park where the children will delve into different careers, learning about what they involve, the routes to get there and the skills, qualities and qualifications needed!
From paramedics to dog charities to special effects make up artists, there's something for everyone!
🚑💄🤹♂️🎪📻🚒🚁📚🖥️🐕🐕🦺
Did you know that every trip and experience the children have at Eaton Park from Y4-Y6 prepares them for their future career? We have a competency framework that the children work with and talk about how they have shown these skills on a trip or during an experience. These 9 competencies (see picture attached) are all areas that future employers say that young people in Stoke need to be able to talk about in interviews, so we are starting them off early! 🌟
Why not leave a comment and share your childhood aspiration for us to share with the children? Did you achieve it, or did you go down a different route? We would love to hear from you! 🤍 ... See MoreSee Less

We have had a wonderful art lesson in Year 5 this afternoon! 🎨
The children have been experimenting with a range of painting techniques in preparation for their final piece inspired by the artist Martin Bulinya.
They've been exploring dry brushing, washing, overlay and sgraffito 🖌️, and it was wonderful to see their creativity shining through!
We can't wait to share their finished pieces with you soon! ⭐ ... See MoreSee Less

Celebration of Stoke 100 winning poem 🎉 ✍🏼
On Saturday evening, Grace in Year 4 celebrated winning the Stoke 100 poem. With her family, she attended the ‘100 Years, 100 Faces’ event.
A famous poet, Nick Degg, read Grace’s poem to close the celebration. Even the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress loved ❤️ Grace’s poem and there was even talk of an invite to the Mayor’s Parlour! 🥰
Well done again Grace. 👏🏼

RAF STEM workshop🤖
The children in Year 5 & 6 absolutely loved their workshop this morning, working in pairs to build a robot with working wheels and headlights 💡
Using the tablets, they then programmed the robot to move from one side of the mat to the other without knocking down their yellow barrier - to do this, they needed to work out how many cm they would need to programme 📏
Once they had got used to this, they had to prepare for a rescue of their Lego character! To save him or her, they had to attach a stretcher onto their robot, move the it from one end of the mat to the other, rotate it 180 degrees and get back to the hospital (yellow barrier) as quickly as possible! 🏥
Some children even programmed their headlights and sirens to go off as the bot moved!⭐
It was lovely to hear the children talking about their technology, engineering and maths skilled that they used as part of the STEM session and see their enthusiasm for coding and programming! 💻 ... See MoreSee Less
