Eaton Park Academy Junior Leaders

At Eaton Park Academy, we believe that offering appropriate leadership opportunities to our pupils can help develop important skills in preparation for life beyond school. To belong to Eaton Park is an honour and these junior leadership roles contribute to the sense of pride pupils feel about the school. There is a huge range of opportunities for pupils to become leaders, represent their peers and contribute to the school community. Many student leadership opportunities focus on improving school life, and the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom.

Our Junior Leadership Teams are:

The School Council

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Pupil Voice – talking to children about their views
  • Improving school life for our pupils
  • Making decisions about improvements to school
  • Selecting one of our school charities and fundraising
  • Championing British Values around school

Pastoral Leaders

Head Boy/Girl, Deputy Head Boy/Girl & Year Six Ambassadors

Age Range: Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the MASTER values and be an outstanding role model
  • Monitor and support good behaviour around the academy
  • Be able to report back to children and adults about events inside and outside of school which you may have attended as an ambassador
  • Help and support all children in and out of lessons.
  • Demonstrate resilience and challenge, and a positive attitude towards our school at all times.

Class Ambassadors

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 5

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to your class
  • Demonstrate the MASTER values and be an outstanding role model
  • Monitor and support good behaviour in your class
  • Help and support your teacher in and out of lessons.

Well-being Leaders

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting all children with their mental health
  • Worry box monitors
  • Ensuring all children have someone to play with
  • Ensuring children know how to keep themselves safe
  • Promote the weekly safety message
  • Promote Growth Mindset

Playground Warriors

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Developing play on the playground and encouraging children to play appropriate games.
  • Anti-bullying activist
  • Ensuring all children have someone to play with
  • Ensuring children know how to keep themselves safe on the playground
  • Help develop effective friendships

Learning Leaders

Science Leaders

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a love of Science throughout the academy
  • Support Science clubs
  • Pupil Voice – talking to children about their learning in Science
  • Working with staff to improve Science

Maths Leaders

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a love of Maths throughout the academy
  • Support Maths clubs
  • Pupil Voice – talking to children about their learning in Maths
  • Working with staff to improve Maths

Digital Literacy Leaders

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a love of Computing throughout the academy
  • Support ICT clubs
  • Pupil Voice – talking to children about their learning in Computing
  • Working with staff to improve Computing
  • Supporting the use of ICT around school
  • Being an E-Safety activist

Eco Warriors

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support ways to reduce the Academy carbon footprint
  • Promote eco-friendly behaviour encouraging pupils to reduce, reuse and recycle where possible.
  • Maintain nature areas around school.

Librarians

Age Range: Year 1 – Year 6

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a love of reading throughout the academy
  • To help in the library at set times
  • To help other pupils using the library
  • To support reading initiatives across the academy e.g. Book Worm
