Class Dojo is our online platform used to communicate key messages, successes and important information with our parents, but more importantly, it is used to collate our pupils’ dojos. For parents, it is a great way to keep in touch with staff, but for our children it is so much more!
Dojos (or house points) are a way for our staff to promote positive learning behaviours in their classrooms. Each child receives dojos for a range of things from great answers in lessons, fantastic pieces of work, displaying our MASTER values and being a good role model or for any other outstanding behaviour that any member of staff observes. Children collect their dojos over the course of each half term, and these are totalled up at the end of each half term.
We do two things with your child’s dojos/ house points. Firstly, we collate them by house to see which house within the academy is in the lead overall. Even more exciting than this, each child’s own dojos are totalled up and turned into dojo cash which can be spent in our academy’s dojo shop!
Our dojo shop has a whole range of prizes! Children can buy things for as little as 50 dojos all the way up to our big ticket prizes at 500 dojos; our prizes even include free play tickets for additional play time. There are a range of things in our shop from pencils and erasers, to cool bags and bouncy balls, bubbles, toy cars and even bouncy slime! Our shop is found in our KS2 building and children can visit at any time to exchange their dojos/ house points for their chosen prize.
We constantly update the stock of the shop to maintain interest and for children to have a range of prizes to work towards. The shop encourages the life skills of saving for the things that they truly want and teaches pupils key values linked to money and how to spend it. We love to reward our pupils for their outstanding behaviour, and our dojo shop is really great way for us to do this.
