✨EYFS Local Heritage Display✨
Well done to Nursery and Reception for producing such fabulous work for Local Heritage Week.
Nursery looked at the patterns in Emma Bridgwater designs. They then decorated their own pottery.
Reception looked at what bottle kilns are, where clay comes from and about Stoke-on-Trent being famous for pottery. We created a bottle kiln collage and made some cups and plates with clay.
Super work!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

🎯 Attendance - 19.04.24 🎯
What an amazing week for attendance! ⭐️ Another fabulous week to continue from last week.
We’ve smashed our target this week with 97.5% 🎯👏🏽
Nearly all of our classes have achieved 96% or above this week. Very well done to everyone. 👏🏽
Ladybirds 🐞 have achieved 100% this week - another nursery group achieving 100%. 😍
This means our whole school figure is creeping back up too - nearly at target. 🤩
Thank you for your continued support with attendance. 🤝

Y5 had a great time visiting the synagogue this morning: they got to wear Jewish hats if they wanted to, looked at the expensive silver and the scrolls.
They learnt lots more about Judaism and some linked perfectly to our current RE unit 🕍 ⭐️

As part of our learning about our local heritage today, we were lucky enough to have a visitor in to talk to Year 6 about mining. We learned about what the conditions were like for children down the pit, the equipment the miners used and how dangerous and difficult their work was. Cliff brought along many items for us to explore, including a lamp, protective work equipment and machinery parts. The children found it really interesting and were able to link it to other areas of our learning! 👍🧨

'Local Heritage Week'
Across the whole academy this afternoon, the children explored our local heritage as part of our history delivery. Our key question for the afternoon was:
'What can sources tell us about how our local area has developed and become what it is today?'
We had some fabulous activities planned for the children linked to pottery, our school in the past, our local area and coal mining. The children used maps, old photo albums, school logs books, newspaper articles and we were lucky enough to have some visitors in school too to help us!
We captured the activities throughout the afternoon, so please look out for these.
On Thursday morning, 2M will also deliver their class assembly to their parent and carers linked to their learning. The children are looking forward to sharing their knowledge and skills!
Thank you,
Mrs Blood and Mrs Mellor

This morning, some of our Year 5 Literacy Champions attended our Parent and Toddler group to offer their support.
They worked alongside members from the National Literacy Trust to put their training into practice and share stories and music with the children. 📖 🎶
They did a fantastic job and loved sharing their love for reading. A great start to their new roles! 👏
